Tick Tock!

So yesterday marked our 6th month on the waiting list! I feel selfish because I know there are families that have been waiting longer than us. But please Lord, help our referral come soon. I am so dog-gone anxious to see that little face!

A Thankful Heart!

What a week it has been! We all started the week off battling the stomach flu desperately trying to get well so that we would be able to celebrate Thanksgiving! In an attempt to contain the contamination, we disinfected, anti-bacterialized, lysoled, and laundered whatever may have been touched. With great success, we were all well! Our plan was to have my parents and close friends spend the day with us. Due to my mom's health, they chose to play it safe and stay away! We missed them dearly but had a great time with some of our dearest and closest friends! Great food, football, and awesome fellowship made for a great Thanksgiving Day!

But in Thomas fashion, we couldn't let it go out without a bang. By 9:30, we were in the ER with Sara due to some freak allergic reaction. We are still not sure what happened, and fortunately Benedryl saved the day. Thankfully, she recovered quite well and is still sleeping soundly. But I must say that the highlight of my week was Tuesday, November 23rd.

Nine years ago on the 23rd my sweet Sara was born. God blessed us with a little girl who is so inquisitive, smart, quite sassy, and stinkin' hilarious! So Sara, as you grow, I pray that God would have us be the parents for you that He intends us to be and that you would love Him with all your heart and always follow His leading in your life. We so love you!

Even though it may have been a chaotic week with both high and low moments, I sit here on Friday so thankful for all the Lord has given me. As I look forward to spending a fun day with my family, I pray that I never take advantage of all that with which I have been so richly blessed!

5 Months & Counting

Last week marked 5 months of us being on the waitlist! Time is flying by! Fortunately, the girls have kept us quite busy with their many activities and now here we are with the holidays staring us in the face! So, as if things weren't busy enough, we have all the holiday festivities to attend to. I am not complaining in the least...I love this time of year! Now that I have decided to proceed with this whole blogging thing, I realize that I have little to say. Maybe more next time, huh?

My 1st Blog!

I never in a million years thought I would be a blogger. But here I am and I wonder, who in the world is going to read this thing. I guess I better use correct spelling and grammar because, you never know! In an effort to keep this somewhat brief but informative, I guess I will start this whole story off by explaining our story.

We have been blessed with two beautiful, amazing girls. Sara is 8 and Abby is 6. They are funny, stubborn, challenging, compassionate, sensitive, and an absolute joy to parent. After Abby was born, we decided that our family was complete. Unbeknownst to us, our eyes would be open to a greater calling that we could ever imagine. In February of 2010 we followed God's leading to adopt from Ethiopia. That moment has changed our lives and we are so excited. We look forward to meeting and bringing home our son (I can't believe I can say "our son")in the near future. We hope you enjoy following our journey to bringing him home!
